Interclub 1 (May 22)

Congratulations to everyone who competed in the Interclub meet yesterday. We ended up 3rd overall which is a great effort considering we only had 19 swimmers entered. It was a matter of quality rather than quantity with everyone who had entered turning up and awesome times being recorded by all. Congratulations in particular to our 4 first time swimmers for the club, Kirsty, Ros, Derek and Leigh. I was very impressed with your performance. Now that the nerves are out of the way I hope to see you back again at Interclub #2.

The encouragement award for the State Cup meet went to Wendy Wilkinson for some excellent freestyle performances including a 6:44 for her 400 freestyle, scoring maximum points for all of her swims despite some tough competition and even offering to do butterfly in the medley relay (which she has never swum before in a race) to help out a team mate.

The encouragement award for Interclub #1 was awarded to Derek Connolly who shocked us all with his times including a 1:20 for 100 freestyle and 1:40 for 100 breaststroke, which is pretty impressive for any swimmer let alone a first timer who on Friday night didn’t even know where the pool was!

I hope to see as many swimmers as possible out for interclub #2 and hope we can improve on this result. If there is anything you would like to work on in preparation for the next meet please have a chat to me at training.

Thank you

Karen Mentha

Club Coach
